Penumpasan pemberontakan ( bahasa Inggris : counter-insurgency , counterinsurgency , ^{[ 1 ]} COIN ) dapat diartikan sebagai "upaya militer dan sipil menyeluruh yang diambil untuk mengalahkan dan memadamkan pemberontakan dan mencabut sampai ke akar-akarnya". ^{[ 2 ]} Pemberontakan yang dimaksud adalah pemberontakan melawan sebuah pemerintahan yang dilancarkan oleh orang-orang atau kelompok-kelompok yang tidak diakui sebagai pihak yang turut berperang ( belligerent ) dalam hukum humaniter internasional . ^{[ 3 ]}
